Can I ask you one thing, you know Mr. George Ortiz is my friend of mine and I want to know his e-mail address. It's been a long time not hearing any news from him. If you don't mind can anyone give me his e-mail address? Thank you in advance.

Looking to contact Lavis Mundell (think I have the spelling correct) who taught school on base. Do not recall if it was grade or high school. Have photos of Lavis, his wife and baby which I would like to give to him or his family.  Will appreciate any assistance in contacting him.

John Dornick, 64 - 66
Requirements Division, Inventory, Control Department
jonrob11@earthlink.net

Hi Everyone. I worked as a civilian at NSD Subic Bay from July 1964 thru December 1966. I was Head of one of three branches of the Requirements Division, Inventory Control Department.  My boss was Lcdr Mike Hamilton (Requirements Division) and the Department Head was Cdr Dick Hudson.  Mike is currently living in Virginia and Dick passed away in 1991. Here's a few of the Supply Corps Officers I worked with, current whereabouts unknown (except for Mike Hamilton):

Ensign Hopper, Lt. Ralph Vanni; Lt. Bob McLaughlin; Lt. Ed Straw; Lcdr. Max VanValkenburg; Lt. John Hutto; Lcdr. Rex Warneke; LCdr. Mike Conner; Lt. Norm Horner; Capt. John Koch; Capt. Rollo Rieve.   Koch was the C.O., who was relieved by Rieve.  Three standouts were: Straw, Hamilton and Rieve...my favorite people!

I met a few guys at the BOQ at Cubi Point before my family arrived (three months after me!) I went Scuba diving with one of the Ltjgs there.  Largest scare was going down about 30 feet and was welcomed by a giant Grouper!  Almost drowned getting to the surface...I must have used up 20 pounds of air in about 2 minutes! Also managed to "do" all the crap games at the Q!  Met (and lost) a few pilots I knew from the BOQ. Great guys...I'll never forget their faces, but I can't remember their names.  I guess that happens when we grow older! Hmmm. Respectfully, John Dornick, Camarillo, CA

What a great web site! ;-) Anyway, here's my update with what happened to NCSP San Miguel and the not so popular USAF 17th Surveilance Squadron.

I live near NCSP San Miguel at Brgy. La Paz, San Narciso, Zambales. My work at SCE San Miguel is not just an engineering tech for engineering construction/ facilities maintenance used to teach computer class to both civilian and military personnel in NCSP San Miguel, NLS Mt. Sta. Rita and also at NRTF Capas. Witnessed the construction and completion of the new O.H. Perry Elementary School and the new Consolidated Club.

Then transferred to Data Processing Service Center-NSD after the realignment status of NCSP San Miguel and stayed there until August 1992.

At present, NCSP San Miguel was converted into a navy training center for the Phillipine navy. They have to make use of the new O.H. Perry Elementay School building. While the location of 17th Surveilance Squadron's "Giant Sapphire" is now home to the Philippine Merchant Marine Academy (campus built by PNCC - the same engineering staff who built the new OH Perry School).

Friends I recall most include Delia Asuelo (now Grieble), Leo Antipolo (elected councilor town council of San Antonio) of OH Perry School, Mercy, Alma and Marivic of NCSP Supply, Remy and Ging of NCSP FSD. Earl Ramsey, Wayne Beach, Ms. Hoffman, of NCSP PWC. Also... relatives who worked at Naval Station Subic and San Miguel include my father Dionisio P. Gruspe (ROICC construction rep), Restituto "SpeedFire" Abille (NAS Cubi Point AIMD), Adelina Abille (deceased - PWC Subic), Arturo Abille (PWC NCSP San Miguel)

mmcclure@stx.rr.com

Great site!  My name is Mike McClure, GS-09, Civilian employee, worked for MWR 1986-1991. It brought back a lot of memories reading most of these dispatches.  I worked at Subic and Cubi athletic departments.  I worked with Keith Westbay, Art Benjamin and KJ Johnson and I keep in touch with all of them to this day.  I did not recognize very many names but I did remember the scenarios. I would sure like to get in touch with any local national that worked at the gyms when I did and of course anyone that played sports, especially in the softball Bar league.  Drop me a line.  I will always remember the sights, sounds and the beauty of my second home.

Assistant Fire Chief, Consolidated Fire Department NAS Cubi Point
bmfoster1@verizon.net

Bud Foster, Wife June, Sons Billy and Brian   Hi to all our friends in the P.I. and those here in the U.S.. From the Hale to the Farewell, the five years we spent living and working in Subic and San Miguel were the best times of our life. The memories of fun times on the beach and out on Grande Island will never fade. What a pleasure to know all the fine people there. We will never forget how warm and friendly every one was. We had some great times in San Miguel, Olongapo, Manila and in the Barrios. We spent one Christmas in Baguio, it was beautiful. To all our friends, especially the men and women in the Fire Department, let me say, I miss you and the times we had. Please let us here from you when you can.     Thanks For The Memories, Bud & June Foster, Yucca Valley CA.
